From October 21 to 23, the annual Watch Time New York showcases return to the Big Apple. It will feature some of the finalists for the 2022 Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG).

Watch Time New York, initiated by Watch Time magazine, is one of the largest American watchmaking events. It is held at Gotham Hall in Midtown, in the heart of the megalopolis. For this seventh edition, newcomers such as Breguet, Greubel and Blancpain join the show’s aisles alongside other major watchmaking companies, including some finalists in the last GPHG.

Enthusiasts and collectors will be able to discover the latest innovations and new models, as well as some brands that are little known to the general public.

For a brief historical reminder, the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG) rewards “the most remarkable creations in order to advance the art of watchmaking in the world“. Open to watchmakers from all over the world, it has become, over the years, the most important annual prize in the industry. Some of the most prestigious companies, such as Rolex or Patek Philippe, are not represented.

During this 22nd edition, more than 250 pieces competed. But only 90 timepieces were selected last August by the members of the Academy. Divided into 15 categories, these models are now in the running to win one of the 20 prizes.

Among the brands shortlisted and present at Watch Time New York are Audemars Piguet, Parmigiani Fleurier, Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as Chopard, Tag Heuer and Breitling. Since the beginning of the GPHG, the Swiss brand Audemars Piguet remains the most successful, with more than 15 awards to its credit, followed by Van Cleef and Arpel (with 10 medals).

Watch Time New York will allow watch connoisseurs to immerse themselves in the latest trends. But it will also give them the opportunity to discover some of the GPHG finalists, whose winners will be announced on November 10.
