Vranken-Pommery: Sales up nearly 18% in the first half

The results are very good for the Vranken-Pommery group, with the premium and top-of-the-range Champagnes Vranken and Pommery & Greno being the main beneficiaries of the strong export demand.

Vranken-Pommery Monopole posted sales of 109.9 million euros in the first half of 2022 (+17.7% compared to the same period in 2021).

Sales in France rose by 20.6%, with a recovery in on-trade activities (out-of-home consumption), while export sales accounted for 66% of the total. Export sales were particularly dynamic in Europe and the rest of the world, with excellent performances in the Benelux countries, the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan.

Champagne sales amounted to 92.7 million euros, up 20.2% compared to the first half of 2021, explained by the recovery of the French market and the dynamism of exports. The Vranken and Pommery & Greno brands represent 58.2% of volumes for 68.1% of Champagne revenues.

On the wine side, half-yearly revenues amounted to €7.8 million, down 7.5% compared with the first half of 2021. The very strong deficit in the Camargue harvest in 2021 alone explains the drop in revenues.

It should be noted that the Group’s other activities have increased to €9.4 million (+20.6% compared to the first half of 2021). In particular, sales of Ports and Douro Wines increased by more than 20%, and Sparkling Wines by more than 40%.

Due to the uncertainties surrounding the second half of 2022 because of the war in Ukraine and the seasonality of its business, the champagne group is maintaining its business growth forecast at a minimum of 5%.
