Vivienne Westwood x Burberry, the collection unveiled
The Burberry & Vivienne Westwood collaboration has just been unveiled in a special campaign.
The collection is the first collaboration by Burberry under the direction of its creative director, Riccardo Tisci – according to the British brand, Riccardo Tisci, Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler “are united by a common vision to support and promote Cool Earth, a UK-based non-profit organization that works with local communities to stop deforestation and climate change“.
The centrepiece is an oversized t-shirt dedicated to the charity Cool Earth, with an handwritten message from Vivienne Westwood herself. She will also customize four exclusive items from the auctioned collection to support the cause.
Riccardo Tisci says that Vivienne Westwood was “one of the first creators to make me dream of doing this job” – according to him, the British designer is “a rebel, a punk in her unique representation of the British style, which has inspired so many of us“.
St Dupont launches a new technologic watch
Hyperdome, the latest watch from S.T. Dupont, is none other than the result of a successful marriage between the values of a major French company and innovative technology. A true urban instrument adapted to the daily lives of young working people, this watch combines S.T. Dupont’s traditional know-how with today’s innovation and performance.
Capable of going up to 30 metres deep, the Hyperdome has an apparent tip mechanism, enhanced by its crystal dome. A surprising but thoughtful modernism. Indeed, the crystal coating constituting the dome is ultra-resistant and allows absolute clarity. This watch has everything to surprise with its revolutionary and atypical design in the world of watchmaking.
Chanel inspired by Egypt in its Metiers d’Art show
The temple of Egyptian Dendur, exhibited at the Met, was used as a setting for the 2018/2019 Chanel Métiers d’Art show. “Egyptian civilization has always fascinated me: I am inspired by an idea, the one I have,” explains Karl Lagerfeld in the press release issued by the house of rue Cambon at the end of the show.
Patinated, cracked, flamboyant, sparkling, gold is omnipresent and adorns the tweed, which is available in white, beige or black and is printed on materials such as leather.
The latter plays with appearances in its crocodile, iguana or python effects, even though the house on rue Cambon announced this week that it will not use exotic skins anymore. Plasma collars also impose this ancient Egyptian influence on slender silhouettes with multiple details paying a precious tribute to the different workshops of these famous craftsmen.
Among them, an emblem of this fascinating civilization: the beetle made by the Goossens house after a mould made by its founder, Robert Goossens.
Dolce & Gabbana make a triumphant return with Milan
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented their latest collections Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria (the design duo’s answer to haute couture) in Milan on December 8.
In the historic Palazzo Litta in Milan, it was the first time that the house presented Alta Moda, for women at the same time as Alta Sartoria, for men. After its recent public relations disaster in China, which led to the cancellation of its long-awaited The Great Show in Shanghai, it was a return to familiar and friendly territory. But it was also a return to the fundamental themes of the brand’s DNA: culture, life and the arts.
The collection is inspired by the Milanese renaissance and sees the masterpieces of Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci translated into rich dresses, coats and jackets, inlaid with embroidery. Theatre, beauty and celebration of Italian history, it was a journey through the company’s undisputed technical know-how, but also a showcase for the unwavering passion of the creators.
Marc Jacobs creates more affordable line
Marc Jacobs presented a new line called “The Marc Jacobs“.
The American designer will launch this new, more affordable line before autumn 2019. The lookbook of the line was compiled with the help of the designer Lotta Volkova. The very first images show androgynous silhouettes and a bright colour palette.
This is not the first time that Marc Jacobs has taken an interest in fashion for everyone, the “Marc by Marc Jacobs” line delighted its fans until it stopped in 2015.
