The French champagne house Veuve Cliquot will celebrate its 250th anniversary on board of the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Organised by Belmond, this two-day trip will take place on 5th June and will travel through France and Italy.
The guests on this trip will leave from Reims, France and travel to Venice, Italy. These two cities are of great importance to the Champagne House, as they were the destinations of the first bottles of the House shipped abroad in 1772.
A journey through history
Veuve Cliquot has therefore called upon the luxury Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express train, owned by Belmond, a British hotel and leisure company that operates luxury hotels, tourist trains and river cruises around the world. The journey will take guests on a journey called the ‘Solar Voyage‘. The name recalls the famous yellow colour that has been used on the company’s product labels since 1877.
Another reminder of its name, this unique experience will begin at sunrise in the city of Reims in the heart of the Champagne region, where guests will be offered a tour of the chalk pits and will be able to enjoy a tasting of the house’s rarest vintages; all in the company of the Chef de Caves Didier Mariotti. The next day, guests will wake up in the heart of the Alps and this unique adventure will end with a dinner at the Cipriani, the Belmont Hotel located in Venice on the Giudecca Island.
In the luxurious Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, guests will be immersed in a refined décor with Art Deco and Art Nouveau details, recalling the authenticity of the Belle Époque.
Finally, for clients who have booked a Cabin Suite or a Grande Suite, they will be offered an exceptional breakfast. Another experience, this time reserved for Grande Suite customers, will be an invitation by the Champagne House on the eve of departure to spend a night at the Hôtel du Marc, a private hotel belonging to Veuve Cliquot, in Reims.
