The Vestiaire Collective platform launches its “Vintage is the new new” section, which brings together luxury vintage pieces for the back-to-school season.

Vestiaire Collective known as the queen of high-end second-hand sales has just launched its “Vintage is the new new” platform.

This is a section of luxury vintage pieces featuring a selection signed by the greatest professionals and fashion experts.

An entirely eco-responsible approach

Indeed, vintage is no longer just a way to have access to a luxury product at a more affordable price, but it is a real choice for a more responsible consumption.

To launch this new section, the Second-Hand Platform called on some of the biggest names in fashion design and vintage experts, including Bay Garnett, Alexander Fury, Sami Miro and Suzanne Koller.

Their exclusive selections are to be found under the name “Only on Vestiaire” and bring together the best vintage pieces of the last four decades.

It should be noted that the growth recorded by the vintage since last year is +140%.

What justifies this growth is notably the environmental awareness, as well as the need to renew with quality pieces or the desire to feel the brands we like to align with our values in terms of human respect.

Vintage is thus offered as a beginning of a solution to a fashion that goes too fast and does too much harm. This is why Vestiaire Collective launched its “Vintage is the new new” campaign at the end of August.

We have always put vintage in a modern form. A mix of iconic, classic pieces, such as the 2.55 vintage from the house of Chanel, the Monogram from the house of Louis Vuitton, YSL and Chanel jewelry from the 70s and 80s, the Hermès square, and rarer pieces from private collections and highly sought-after collections by designers such as Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons, John Galliano, JP Gaultier,” explains Sophie Hersan, Fashion Director and co-founder at Vestiaire Collective. “But fashion doesn’t stop at a label, that’s also why we offer unsigned vintage pieces that have a fashion interest in their style and design“.

Sophie Hersan goes on to say: “They each selected a decade of predilection and chose 5 iconic pieces, representative of the selected period. Through this selection we needed them to tell us: the history, the culture, the designer, the brand, the artist… They expressed themselves through their selection on the history, the culture, the designer, the brand… everything that a vintage piece tells“.

Note that the first prices start from 25€ and that the highest prices are mainly for collector’s items such as Rolex or Bulgari watches.

The ecological awareness of the younger generation is pushing them to consume better, to move away from fast fashion to sustainable pieces. Vintage is no longer just a way to have access to a luxury product at a more affordable price, it is a real choice for more responsible consumption. Buy less, buy better,” concludes Sophie Hersan.

One thing’s for sure, those who are looking for cult bags like Prada’s nylon bags, Fendi’s baguette, Louis Vuitton’s Speedy or accessories and ready-to-wear pieces from famous or forgotten designers will easily find what they’re looking for.
