The Swiss watch brand Tissot has been the official timekeeper of the most prestigious cycling races for many years. The watchmaker has just renewed its partnership with the Tour de France.
In addition to being the historical partner of the UCI for a quarter of a century, the Tissot brand has just renewed its contract with the Tour de France and the Vuelta (in Spain).

This is a very important association in competitions such as the Tour de France, since victory can be decided by just a few seconds. This is why calculating the time gap between two riders requires technical tools that Tissot is able to produce.
Historic timekeeper of the Tour de France
Since 1938, the brand has been investing in sports timekeeping. Like Omega, TAG Heuer and Longines, it is one of the most sought-after brands for this type of event. The various devices offered by these brands enable all the necessary information linked to timing, point counting and ranking to be received.
On average, more than 2600 hours of work are estimated for the manufacture of a timekeeper. Eighteen such objects are on the field during the 21 stages of the Tour de France.
Tissot became the official timekeeper of the Tour de France for the first time from 1988 to 1991 and in 2016, the watch brand took up its position again. This year, Tissot will be the official timekeeper for the sixth time in a row until Sunday 18 July, when the Tour de France comes to an end.
