This year, the award ceremony for the Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman Award, now known as the Bold Woman Awards, will take place online on November 9.

Open for the first time to the general public, this event aims to reward women who have distinguished themselves as leaders. The opening of this digital edition to the public is a decision dating from before the announcement of the second lockdown.

As early as May, the Sista x Bold system – led with the collective of women entrepreneurs and investors Sista – was set up by Veuve Clicquot in order to exchange and support for a year women with between one and five years of entrepreneurial experience. Concretely, the Sista x Bold system gathers a hundred mentors, two thirds of whom are women, with more than 200 entrepreneurs. Among the mentors of this project is Jean-Marc Gallot, CEO of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin who reminds us that “in the missions that the house sets itself, we ask ourselves each time what Madame Clicquot would do if she was still there.”

It should be remembered that in 1805, when she was only 27 years old, Barbe-Nicole Clicquot lost her husband, François Clicquot, from whom she took over the Maison de Champagne. Directed from then on by “the widow Clicquot”, the Champagne House became one of the most renowned and innovative companies in the world. Inspired by its founder, the firm now offers several support systems for women in their entrepreneurial endeavor, in France and internationally.

A new innovation was added to Sista x Bold: the Bold Woman Dinner. Established in 2019 around great figures of gastronomy, these meals open to the public then brought together more than 120 participants. The next Bold Woman Dinner will take place online in mid-November. For Jean-Marc Gallot, the possibility for the public to attend the event is very important: “When these women testify about what they do, those who attend the event tell themselves that the path to take is not that far”, says the leader.

At the beginning of November, the 2020 dinner community has just been revealed to the general public. It is composed of 8 figures including starred chefs, such as Kelly Rangama or Stéphanie Le Quellec, but also the catering supplier Alexia Foucher-Charraire, or the founder of Frichti, Julia Bijaoui. According to her, “The initiative highlights the boldness of women when they often lack self-confidence. Being able to talk to business leaders working in related sectors is a real enrichment.”

While only 12% of French women wanting to be an entrepreneur can name a female model who inspires them, according to an international survey conducted for Veuve Clicquot, it seems essential to convey models of success within the community of entrepreneurs. Thus, “the Bold program makes it possible to show very inspiring journeys”to use the words of Jean-Marc Gallot. The leader of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin also specifies that “support and exchange between peers will prove to be even more crucial at the time of reconfinement.”Indeed, “in a difficult period, it is important to be alongside business creators who were taking off before the Covid.”
