The luxury car group, owned by India’s Tata Motors, is parting ways with its chief executive after two years.
French executive Thierry Bolloré will resign from Jaguar LandRover on 31 December for “personal reasons”, the company said on Wednesday. The former right-hand man of Carlos Ghosn at Renault took over as CEO in September 2020.
He will be succeeded by Adrian Mardell, a member of the group’s board of directors, who has worked for Jaguar LandRover for 32 years.
Last year, Thierry Bolloré announced a plan to move Jaguar Land Rover into electric vehicles by 2025. But the pandemic has come and gone, and with it, its share of complications. Between the shortage of semiconductor chips, the volatility of raw material costs and repeated lockdowns, the task has proved difficult.
Britain’s largest carmaker, the group still managed to grow sales by almost 36% to €5.98bn in the third quarter of 2022, thanks to improvements in the production of new Range Rover models.
“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together at Jaguar Land Rover over the past two years,” Bolloré said in a statement, before adding that “the transformation of the business and the acceleration towards a modern luxury brand with a sustainable and profitable future is proceeding apace.”
