As the Beijing Olympic Games came to an end yesterday, let’s take a look at the outfits and accessories of the luxury brands that accompanied the athletes.

While the competition was fierce at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics despite many Norwegian gold medals, the athletes also seemed to care about their appearance and sported the finest luxury brands. From Prada snowboards to Vera Wang figure skating gear, here are five luxury brands spotted at the Winter Games. The advantage for the brands? Unprecedented visibility due to the popularity of the games around the world. In China, the Beijing Games were followed by 600 million viewers.

The iconic snowboarder of the U.S. team, Shaun White, came to the Winter Olympics wearing a custom Louis Vuitton outfit, the result of a collaboration between the luxury house and White’s own brand, Whitespace. The latter had worked with the late Virgil Abloh to design a collection of custom luggage including a snowboard and a guitar case. During these Games, White participated in his fifth and last Olympic Games.

The Prada brand provided very trendy ski outfits. Indeed, the snowboarder Julia Marin (USA), was adorned with a red and white Prada outfit throughout the competition, matching the red and white Prada board with which she won the silver in the snowboard slopestyle event. But the use of the branded board caused controversy. The athlete later wrote on Instagram that the IOC had forced her to cover the Prada label for the big air qualifications, which forced her to withdraw from the Games.

For those who don’t know, the base of the board is important for your speed and is not supposed to have anything but wax on it,” said the athlete.

In figure skating, Nathan Chen from the United States was dressed by designer Vera Wang. Among Chen’s outfits were a black tuxedo with an open jacket over a white shirt, as well as a starry orange shirt. The latter won the gold medal. Vera Wang wrote on Instagram, “When you get the chance to dress an Olympic athlete in a sport you love so much… it’s an honor and a privilege! “.

Moreover, Ralph Lauren happens to be the equipment supplier of Team USA since 2008. These Winter Games were no exception. Uniforms featured red boots and fleece pants with navy jackets for the female athletes. Male athletes were dressed primarily in white with patches of red and blue. Uniforms also included navy hats and gloves.

Finally, Eileen Gu, a Chinese skier born in California, is one of the most followed athletes of the Winter Games. At only 18 years old, she has already won two gold medals and one silver for the Chinese team. The Generation Z athlete is also an emerging fashion influencer. She is the ambassador of the fashion house Louis Vuitton and the jewelry brand Tiffany & Co. At the Games, she was seen wearing pieces from the Tiffany Knot and Hardwear collections.
