The selection of films for the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has just been announced. On the program: 61 films, including 24 in the running for the Palme d’Or.
After being postponed due to the health situation, the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will be held from July 6 to 17. This year, the Palme d’Or will be awarded at the end of the awards ceremony, on July 17, by the American director Spike Lee, who chairs the Jury of the Festival.
The selection of films was announced by the general delegate Thierry Frémaux on Thursday, June 3, during a press conference held in a Parisian cinema and which you can find below. The selection will include a total of 61 films, 24 of which are in the running for the Festival’s Palme d’Or.
About the selection, Thierry Frémaux says “It ended last night very late and will still evolve !” The conference also unveils the inauguration of the new multiplex cinema in Cannes, one of which will be used for screenings. In total, the complex, named Cineum Cannes, has 12 rooms and 2,450 seats.
