The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, an upscale hotel group, began accepting crypto-currency to book accommodations on Wednesday, the company announced in a press release.
This is a first in the hotel industry. The Hotels & Resorts group, which owns about 15 properties around the world, has decided to accept crypto-currency as a payment method. “Allowing this flexibility in payments combined with security and peace of mind for our guests is the next step in personalized and tailored services,” said the group’s owner and founder Gordon Oldham.
To enable guests to book rooms with bitcoin, ethereum, and 40 other crypto-currencies, the international hotel group will partner with crypto payment service provider Coindirect “Guests can take advantage of payment in the crypto-currency of their choice, depending on the currency and location they are in at the time of booking, offering more freedom and contemporary, personalized service.” explained Jesse-Hemson, CEO of Coindirect.
“Pavilions Residences“, which are available for sale at the group’s Phuket and Niseko resorts, will also accept crypto-currencies for property sales.
Payments using crypto-currencies have been available on each hotel’s reservation center since July 7, 2021.
