The Paris Stock Exchange up slightly

This Thursday, the Paris Stock Exchange is up slightly, driven by the good results of French companies while the U.S. Federal Reserve announced that its monetary policy will remain unchanged.

 

The Paris Bourse opened higher on Monday. At 10:05 am, the leading index CAC 40 gained 54.55 points to 6,663.86 points, an increase of 0.83%. The day before, it had jumped by 1.18%.

 

In the United States, the Fed announced that it will not reduce its monetary support until the economy has fully recovered from the crisis.

 

The key rates of the institution therefore remain at 0 to 0.25%, and 120 billion dollars per month in asset purchases.

 

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said he was “confident” that “in the medium term inflation will come down“, but that “it is difficult to say when“.

 

Among the French companies up were Danone (5.21% to 60.15 euros), Airbus (+2.55% to 118.24 euros), Bic (9.95% to 60.75 euros) and Eramet (+5.78% to 73.20 euros).

 

Also worth mentioning is Kering‘s stock market rise of 3.6% as second quarter sales nearly doubled, with Gucci accelerating strongly.

 

In decline, the telephone operator Orange lost 3.26% to 9.31 euros. It is followed by the retailer Casino, which fell by 3.20% to 23.57 euros, EDF, which gave up 3.18% to 10.49 euros and Air Liquide, down 2.06% to 146.62 euros.

 

Failing to reach an agreement with the European Commission, the major project of reform of EDF of President Emmanuel Macron will not see the light of day during his five-year term according to sources close to the Elysee internet.
