With an important industrial network and a recognized experience on the most noble materials, Gainerie 91 is a leader in packaging and merchandising on the ultra-luxury segment.

Specialized in the manufacture of cases and displays for the most famous watch and jewelry houses, wines and spirits, perfumes and cosmetics. The group Gainerie 91 (25 million turnover in 2021) has developed a unique expertise thanks to the synergy of its production centers: a workshop in France, Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, and 3 factories of its own (in China, Mauritius and Portugal).

Sustainability which aims, in parallel, to perpetuate the ancestral know-how while adjusting to the most environmentally friendly practices. Gainerie 91 is constantly working on reducing its carbon footprint, notably by using natural materials such as olive or alocasia leaf caning. Gainerie 91 is also working on a whole series of «alternative» skins (wood fiber skins, salmon skins, sturgeon skins or even fruit skins) in order to offer a wider choice of products and materials (especially sustainable) to luxury companies, thus allowing them to turn towards an eco-responsible approach.

Gainerie 91 perpetuates an ancestral know-how

The traditional work of sheathing is at the heart of the know-how at the origin of the group. Carpentry, cutting, sheathing, hot stamping, sewing … are as many trades and skills around leather and wood that allow Gainerie 91 to be a leader on the international market of packaging and merchandising.

One of the characteristics of the sheathing is the possibility of ennobling a great part of the objects which surround us. This technique is widely used, for example, in the world of watchmaking, jewelry, perfumery or even wines and spirits. The main types of leather used in sheathing are lamb, one of the noblest materials, suede, goat, calf, ostrich, shagreen and many others. But whatever its applications, the technique of sheathing is traditional: everything is done by hand.

In the heart of the Parisian workshop, a team of leatherworkers and sheath makers (with more than 20 years of experience) work with tools and machines that catch our attention. Some of them are even ancestral: The folding machine – also called «bone» – essential for a successful sheathing, the rollers and the finials cover the common work surface in the center.

Beyond the tools for custom marquetry and art sheathing, we discover a whole rainbow of leathers and spools. Larger machines are essential for the manufacture of polymer materials.

Gainerie 91 invests to reduce its environmental impact

The group is continually developing its CSR initiatives. In order to increase its «Made in France» (MIF) production capacity, Gainerie 91 acquired an 8,000 m² plot of land in 2021. This new production site located in Lieusaint in Seine-et-Marne, next to the former head office, will be spread over two levels of 2,500 sqm each (3,500 sqm reserved for workshops).

The roof of the new building of Gainerie 91 will be composed of 30% photovoltaic panels. This initiative will allow a 40% autonomy on the electric consumption. A system for recovering and using rainwater will also be installed, as well as a parking lot equipped with spaces for electric cars.
