From December 10 to 12, the Colbert Committee, supported by some twenty luxury companies, is organizing an event called LES DE(UX) MAINS DU LUXE at Station F. During the three-day event, the public will be able to discover a wide range of skills and training. The aim is to highlight these professions and encourage people to take up these professions.

The Colbert Committee is an association that brings together 115 members, 92 luxury companies such as Baccarat, Chanel, Lenôtre and many others and 17 cultural institutions. Frequently presented as the French lobby of the luxury sector, it wishes to set up an event to show the know-how and excellence of the luxury professions.

This prestigious industry, like many others, is indeed facing a real shortage of manpower in the art and production trades. Demand is growing, but the workforce is not keeping up. This unfortunately puts many unique and precious skills at risk.  According to a survey by the Colbert Committee, 85% of its companies are currently experiencing recruitment difficulties for production jobs. In France, more than 20,000 positions need to be filled: a colossal figure!

Yet few people really know about these jobs and the training courses that lead to them. The Colbert Committee has therefore decided to change things and to make these unique craftsmanship skills, which are the envy of the whole world, shine. At the heart of the world’s largest startup campus, Station F, LES DE(UX) MAINS DU LUXE will be an opportunity to showcase these skills to young and old alike.

The event has three major objectives: to show these professions in a new light, to arouse the curiosity of many young people of career-building age through fun activities. And finally, to present career opportunities through master classes with experts and orientation workshops.

For years, the Colbert Committee has been working to promote employment for young people and to enhance the value of our professions. Today, in the face of an unprecedented crisis, we have decided to go even further by organizing a major event that will bring together companies, schools and young people to fight against recruitment shortages and the threat of the loss of our know-how. More than ever, French luxury is demonstrating that it is the oldest sector with a future,” said Bénédicte Epinay, the Committee’s general delegate.

This meeting will bring together 23 luxury companies such as Bernardaud, Boucheron, Cartier, Chloé, Christian Dior, Christofle, Hermès, Van Cleef & Arpels as well as many renowned hotels such as the Meurice or the Plaza Athénée.

Taking place from December 10 to 12, this year’s show will pay special attention to young people. The last day will be dedicated to middle and high school students, supervised by their teachers.
