After having invested 1.5 billion dollars in bitcoin, the automotive group specializing in the sale of electric vehicles Tesla, headed by Elon Musk, allows payments in bitcoins in the United States.
It is through a Twitter post that billionaire Elon Musk announced the news: it is now possible to buy a Tesla in bitcoin in the United States. A means of payment that should extend to other geographical areas “later this year“, as confirmed by the head of Tesla and SpaceX.

The group also announced that bitcoins would not be converted into dollars but kept, a mark of confidence in the crypto-currency, which has seen its price increase fourfold in 2020, until reaching the symbolic rate of 61,742 dollars.
Following Elon Musk‘s announcement on Wednesday, the crypto-currency jumped 3.8% and is valued at $56,508, or 47,760 euros. This is not the first time that the Tesla CEO has been the cause of a rise in the price of the crypto-currency and at the end of last January, the simple addition of a Bitcoin emoji in the bio of his Twitter account had been enough for the bitcoin to soar.
On Tesla‘s website, the terms and conditions of this new payment method stipulate that customers wishing to pay in bitcoins will have to pay the equivalent of the amount displayed in dollars, with a limited amount of time linked to the high volatility of crypto-currencies.
Last month, the billionaire already stated that “when fiat currency (cash) has a negative real interest, only a fool would not look the other way. Bitcoin is almost as fake as fiat currency. The keyword is ‘almost’.”
