Sustainable luxury: the forum of “reasoned” fashion, design and production (1/2)

The 4th edition of the Fashion Forum was held on December 6th at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Paris. This edition about “the times of fashion” has shown that French fashion companies have updated their agendas for a more sustainable approach to their business.

According to a recent study published by the IFM, it is a quarter of companies that in 2020 announce sustainable projects for the following year.

 

“French fashion must be a green fashion, and French fashion must be a sustainable fashion,” said Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy in his introductory speech to the Fourth Fashion Forum.

 

“And in the framework of the productive pact for which the President of the Republic entrusted me with the responsibility, I wish that fashion is one of the leading sectors of this decarbonisation of our economy”.

 

During this day, many issues were discussed like “The time of a reasoned conception“, “The time of a responsible production” or “The time of a reinvented distribution“.

 

The opportunity for stakeholders to come back on topics such as sustainable development, second hand, recycling or renting.

 

Environmental issues re-examine the complex global chain of key players

It was during the round table discussion entitled “The time of a reasoned design” that Pierre-Arnaud Grenade, General Manager of Ba&sh, Marianne Romestain, Director of Supply and Purchasing Group at Galeries Lafayette, and Tony Pinville, CEO and co-founder of Heuritech, discussed the acceleration of fashion and the renewal of collections, initiated by the key players of fast fashion, which now affects all companies in the sector concerned by environmental issues.

Pierre-Arnaud Grenade took advantage of his presence on the roundtable on reasoned design to announce two new approaches for his brand. “At Ba&sh, we are launching a rental initiative within a week, and we have hired a specialized company, Les Cachotières, to create a branded white label site called Ba&sh, which will offer about 50 references. we are going to put a “smart button” on our website starting from April which will allow our customers to automatically resell on all the platforms of resale, at the world level, the product which it would have bought at Ba&sh “.

 

The advent of digital has changed the game, as most market players now have access to tools that were not available to them 10 years ago. Its applications also allow players to reinvent trades and how to produce.
