Royal Caribbean Group acquires ultra-luxury cruise ship Endeavor

The world’s second largest cruise operator, Royal Caribbean Group, announced on Monday July 18 the acquisition of the ultra-luxury cruise ship Endeavor.

The latter will be renamed Silver Endeavor when it joins the cruise line’s fleet, including that of its subsidiary, Silversea Cruises. It will become the fourth Silversea ship.

With Endeavor, we seek to expand our world-class fleet to meet the exceptional demand for ultra-luxury expedition cruises, while enhancing our profitability profile and affirming Silversea’s position as the industry leader in ultra-luxury and expedition cruises,” said Jason Liberty, president, and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.

All terrain, Silver Endeavor has been designed to operate on all of Silversea’s current expedition itineraries, even the most remote. Built to PC6 polar class specifications, it can take travelers to the world’s most remote destinations, including both polar regions.

The expedition cruise industry is poised for accelerated growth driven by demand from upscale and affluent customers for travel to remote and difficult-to-reach destinations,” said Roberto Martinoli, president, and chief executive officer of Silversea Cruises. “This will be the fourth ship to join the Silversea fleet since 2020, demonstrating our commitment to growth.”

Between adventurous expeditions and discovering new landscapes, guests traveling aboard the Silver Endeavor will be able to revel in state-of-the-art expedition facilities. This includes the most immersive and luxurious experiences available, such as traveling aboard a fleet of Zodiac boats for remote exploration.

Providing the world’s best vacation, responsibly, is Royal Caribbean Group’s goal. While our acquisition only covers the physical ship, we want all of our guests to know that we go above and beyond to take care of them,” Jason Liberty then adds.

Acquired for $275 million, or approximately 269 million euros, Silver Endeavor is expected to enter service in the winter of 2022/2023 and will debut in Antarctic waters in November 2022.
