Ridley Scott signs a mini film for Hennessy Cognac

British filmmaker Ridley Scott’s commercial for merchant Hennessy and his Extra Old (XO) cognac was unveiled in preview at the Oscar ceremony held on February 24. It is a short film of 3 minutes and 56 seconds in a phantasmagorical universe populated by giants and androids.

Director of Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator, Ridley Scott is also the author of numerous commercials. His latest work in the genre is a four-minute film made for the Hennessy brand and its Extra Old cognac.

Entitled The Seven Worlds, this epic short film, divided into seven sequences, showcases the different flavours of alcohol in a desert universe populated by giants resembling the Silver Surfer of Marvel. A futuristic atmosphere specific to the director, which fans will recognize.

The sequence is also a tribute to the work of the French illustrator Jean “Moebius” Giraud and in particular to his comic strip Arzach, from which he took over the main character. All this to echo at the end the message the brand launched in 2016: “Every drop of Hennessy is an odyssey“.

Ridley Scott is not on his first try. At the beginning of February, he signed the new Turkish Airlines ad, which lasts six minutes. He recently stated that making this type of product “is more than advertising, it’s a form of entertainment“.

Designed by DDB Paris, Hennessy’s campaign was produced by the company of the Scott RSA Films brothers, Soixan7e Quin5e and The Moving Company.
