Watchfinder, a subsidiary of the luxury group Richemont, specializing in the sale of second-hand watches, has noticed a leak of its customers’ data.

According to Bloomberg news agency, Watchfinder is facing a data leak of its customer base.

The British company “recently discovered unauthorized access to the account of one of its employees,” said Arjen Van de Vall, the chief executive.

The leak affects potential customers, including their email addresses and phone numbers. However, postal addresses, passwords and credit card information are not affected.

According to the Richemont Group spokeswoman, the subsidiary has informed the relevant authorities and is conducting a further review of data verification and security measures: “Our security teams have investigated this matter and have found that all our systems are still protected.”

Watchfinder is a leading reseller of luxury watches, alongside competitors such as WatchBox and Chrono 24. This data leak is not expected to impact its sales, which have been growing strongly since the pandemic.
