Paris Fashion Week: the week’s most eagerly awaited shows

Paris is the fashion capital par excellence. And every year, summer rhymes with fashion shows. From today until next Monday, Men’s Fashion Week is in full swing in the City of Light. Headlining the Paris fashion week is the Louis Vuitton show, under the artistic direction of Pharrell Williams, which takes place this evening. The week ends on Sunday with the Ludovic de Saint Sernin show, followed the next day by fashion darling and friend of the stars, Jacquemus.

For a few days, Paris will be invaded by fashionistas and influencers. It’s a busy week of runway shows, presentations, special events and numerous parallel shows.

The Louis Vuitton show is the star of the catwalk this week. It marks the debut of Pharrell Williams as Creative Director. Many celebrities will be seen in the front row. For the moment, no information has been communicated in advance, apart from the location of the show, which will be held on the famous Pont Neuf,…the oldest in the city of Paris. As every year, the Parisian fashion house will open the summer fashion week with a show on the very first day.

With the images of the first Louis Vuitton campaign, to which the famous singer Rihanna lends her features, we can guess that the collection will be colorful, pop and trendy, in the image of the artist herself.

But don’t forget the week’s other fashion shows. This year, no fewer than 80 labels took part, with 38 presentations and 42 shows, almost double the number at last January’s Fashion Week.

On the program this Tuesday, students from the Institut Français de la Mode will open the ball at 3:30 p.m., with an alternative and ingenious fashion show, as they do every year, showcasing the collections of up-and-coming young talents.

They’ll be closely followed by Burc Akyol. His name may not ring a bell, but it does. He’s one of this year’s LVMH Prize finalists. Through his collections, this Frenchman of Turkish origin blends sensuality and experimentation. Although this is his first Fashion Week, the eponymous designer is already a regular on red carpets, having dressed stars such as Kendall Jenner and Cardi B.

Of course, the big names in fashion will also be present and eagerly awaited. These include Dior, Hermès, Loewe, Kenzo Givenchy, as well as the most fashionable brands such as Ami and Marine Serre.

Labels, the darlings of the Parisian catwalk

For several years now, young labels have been plying the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week, some of which have captured the hearts of stars and fashionistas alike. Among them is Blue Marble, created by Anthony Alvarez in 2018. This young brand is a kind of invitation to travel, filled with rhinestones, sequins and patterns. Every season, the young designer delivers spectacular runway shows, at the cutting edge of fashion and trends.

Botter, Egon Lab and Hed Mayner will also parade on the same day, tomorrow, Wednesday.

On Thursday, the third day of Men’s Fashion Week opens with an array of hype brands, including Isabelle Marant, Courrèges, Issey Miyake, Rick Owens and Dries Van Noten.

As every year, new names and emerging brands are added to the calendar of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. Four labels will be making their debut in the coveted world of Parisian fashion: Italian label 4S designs, Japanese brand Bed J.W Ford, Nigerian designer Adeju Thompson of Lagos Programme, winner of the Woolmark 2023 Prize, and C.R.E.O.L.E (Conscience Relative à l’Émancipation Outrepassant les Entraves) headed by Vincent Frédéric Colombo.

Ludovic de Saint Sernin, eponymous designer and former Creative Director of Maison Ann Demeulemeester, will close this Parisian men’s weekend. And once again, he’s sure to surprise us!

Because Fashion Week also rhymes with parties and after-parties, the week will be enhanced by a series of parties and other post-show events organized by Kenzo, Louboutin, Acne Studios and Highsnobiety. One thing’s for sure: the capital is likely to be packed with people and fashion.
