PARIS FASHION WEEK TAKES US TO ASIA

On June 26 ended the Paris Fashion Week Masculine. And this year, Asia has occupied a special place in the collections offered by designers.

From Casablanca, the Franco-Moroccan brand, direction Japan. Charaf Tajer was inspired by this country he loves so much, where he has visited several dozen times. From his name “Masao San“, the name of one of his Japanese friends, the collection is marked by cuts and patterns that recall the Asian country. “Masao San” inspires the sun, with strong colors specific to Casablanca: green, yellow, orange and pink.

At Ernest W. Baker, we find winks to the country of the rising sun. Notably in a video where the models parade in the rain, accompanied by Perfect Blue, a Japanese animation film. In this collection, designers Reid Baker and Inês Amorim wanted to keep a spirit of lightness, between “dream and reality”.

A mix of worlds

Anthony Alvarez revisits his memories of the Philippines. A few months ago, the designer went to the archipelago of Siargao. And we feel it! At Bluemarble, it is a mixture of colors and influences. The designer presented light outfits, such as duos of shirts slipped over silk T-shirts and flowing pajama pants. A colorful runway, punctuated by the song Scream A.K.A. Itchin’ by Missy Elliott. “I’m inspired by American sportswear and surfing in the Philippines, with a French touch” explains the designer.

Boramy Viguier has also been tempted by Asia. The models parade in suits and ties and finish in jacquard jackets with dragons. “What amuses me is to work at the moment, without necessarily telling a specific story, but to play with the clichés of the fabrics” says the designer.

Far from Japan or the Philippines, we find the Courrèges show. Surely one of the fashion shows that made the most talk about him. Until now entrusted to many designers who have not managed to bring the brand back to life, Nicolas di Felice has succeeded. Pop lines, futuristic, on a refined decor that lets live the pieces of the collection inspired by the world of superheroes.
