New York Fashion Week begins tomorrow

Traditionally the opening show of Fashion Month, New York Fashion Week returns from September 7 to 13. On the program, major fashion houses and new designers present their shows in the city of style and hype.

The fashion world is preparing to shine once again with the return of New York Fashion Week (NYFW), which will take place from September 7 to 13, 2023. The Council of American Fashion Designers (CFDA) recently unveiled details of the event, releasing the Fashion Week calendar earlier this week.

A total of 71 renowned designers have confirmed their participation, while many additional collections will also be presented online and by appointment.

Steven Kolb, Executive Director of the CFDA, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the program: “The official calendar for this new New York Fashion Week once again offers the best of American fashion, from emerging talents to established designers. We are delighted to see the return of Ralph Lauren, Jonathan Cohen and 3.1 Phillip Lim to the New York catwalks, which will add a new energy to the week.”

Big-name designers

Among the highlights of this NYFW will be the eagerly awaited opening show by Peter Do, recently appointed Creative Director at Helmut Lang. Friday September 8 marks the start of the festivities, although the celebration of Stuart Vevers’ 10th anniversary at Coach and the Suprima Design competition will already have taken place the day before.

It will also be a special edition, with the return of some of the great icons of American fashion. Ralph Lauren will be making a comeback after a three-season hiatus, as will Jonathan Cohen and 3.1 Phillip Lim. However, the absence of iconic names such as Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and The Row has not gone unnoticed.

In addition to the 71 designers confirmed on the official CFDA calendar, other collections will be presented online and by appointment, underlining the industry’s adaptation to an ever-evolving digital era.

Five new designers will also appear on the NYFW catwalk. Advisry, Chan Chit Lo, FFORME, Grace Ling and Sho Konishi will bring a breath of freshness and creativity to the event. Each brings a unique perspective, from streetwear to surrealism to bold sculptural forms.

This year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their collections at the event, highlighting emerging talent in the fashion industry.

The shows will be held in Manhattan, as well as in Brooklyn, while Spring Studios will remain the hub of IMG’s NYFW: The Shows. Shows and events will continue to be presented via Runway360, the CFDA’s digital platform, demonstrating the industry’s commitment to innovation and discovery.

New York Fashion Week promises to be a memorable event, with an eclectic mix of established designers and new talent.
