New restrictions in Paris and Ile-de-France: Click & Collect will remain possible in closed shops

The government has once again taken the floor last Thursday, announcing new restrictions for 4 weeks in 16 departments (the 8 of Ile-de-France, the 5 of Hauts-de-France as well as Alpes-Maritimes, Seine-Maritime and Eure). These new measures imply in particular the closure of non-essential shops, i.e. more than 110,000 shops, including nearly 60,000 in the Ile-de-France alone.

“As for shops, as in March and November, only shops selling essential goods and services will be allowed to open. This notion of essential goods will be extended to books and music, which will allow bookshops and record shops to remain open,” announced Jean Castex.

Bookshops, record shops and hairdressers are now considered as shops of first necessity and will therefore not be closed.

The government also unveiled on Saturday the list of businesses authorised to open and the health protocols that will have to be applied.

Fortunately, shops will perhaps be able to “limit the damage” and keep a minimum activity since, as during the second national containment linked to Covid-19, click-and-collect will still be authorised for closed shops. Except for those located in shopping centres.

The following is a list of essential shops allowed to remain open during reconfinement:

  • shops open during the first two confinements;
  • bookshops;
  • the record shops ;
  • hairdressing salons ;
  • DIY shops;
  • plant and flower shops;
  • the chocolatiers ;
  • cobblers ;
  • Car dealerships (by appointment);
  • property visits.
