New appointments to head Capri Holding and John Hardy

Capri Holding, the global luxury fashion group, and John Hardy, a handcrafted jewelry brand, announced yesterday the appointment of their new chief executives.

 

Capri Holding, which owns Versace, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo, has appointed Cédric Wilmotte as CEO of Michael Kors, effective April 3.

 

Cédric Wilmotte was previously COO of Versace, after serving as interim CEO of the fashion house from January to September 2022 and is. Prior to that, he led the Michael Kors EMEA business from its inception in 2008 until 2021. Before joining the Capri Holding group, he already had one foot in fashion, and held various management positions at Marc Jacobs (2004 to 2008) and Donna Karan in New York, London and Milan (from 1998 to 2004).

 

I am delighted to welcome Cedric back to the Michael Kors team as our new CEO. Cedric is a strong leader with extensive retail and merchandising experience and a deep understanding of the Michael Kors brand and consumer,” said John Idol, president and CEO of the luxury group.

 

For his part, the brand’s eponymous designer says he and Cedric Wilmotte share the same vision for the brand.

 

A new face at John Hardy too

 

On a smaller scale, John Hardy, the handcrafted jewelry brand, has announced the appointment of Frederic Levy as its new CEO. He succeeds Kareem Gahed, who has held the position of CEO since 2019.

 

Frederic Levy joins the Canadian brand after more than 20 years of global leadership experience, including building e-commerce businesses and developing digital and marketing strategies.

 

Prior to joining John Hardy, he served as President of the International Business Unit of the Alpartagas Group, one of Brazil’s largest footwear and canvas manufacturing companies. Among other things, he was President of the Havaianas brand worldwide (excluding Brazil). During his tenure, he created a new e-commerce platform and initiated a digital strategy to drive sales growth.

 

From 2015 to 2020, Frédéric Levy was President and CEO of Coravin, specializing in corks for wine bottles, where he accelerated growth in the United States and Europe. Prior to that, he served as president of Nespresso USA for nine years.

 

John Hardy has a unique and authentic artistic foundation, and I’m excited to work with our creative president, Reed Krakoff , and the rest of our talented team to capitalize on the significant opportunities ahead. Together, we will find creative ways to grow John Hardy on a global scale, while staying true to our brand values,” said Frederic Levy in a statement.

 

For his part, John Hardy’s chairman of the board is convinced that “Fred is the right leader to guide the company through its next phase of growth while remaining true to the distinctive heritage that sets the company apart.”
