Leading hotel groups Marriott International and MGM Resorts International have signed an exclusive long-term licensing agreement. Starting this October, the collaboration will combine the loyalty programs of 17 MGM resorts across the United States.

MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy: this is the name of the agreement signed between MGM Resorts and Marriott, aimed at enhancing the benefits offered to members of their respective loyalty programs. MGM Resorts’ MGM Rewards platform, with over 40 million members worldwide, will enable its members to link their accounts to Marriott Bonvoy to benefit from certain advantages. For its part, Marriott Bonvoy, the loyalty platform of the eponymous group with over 180 million members, will make it possible to earn and redeem points for stays at all MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy establishments.

Of the 17 establishments joining this exclusive partnership, 12 are located in the city of all sins: Las Vegas. These include Bellagio Resorts & Casino, Aria Resort & Casino, Park MGM and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, all of which are aligned with existing Marriott Collection brands.

Eight other MGM properties in Las Vegas will join the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy: Vdara Hotel & Spa, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, NoMad Las Vegas, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Luxor Hotel and Casino, and Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

These last five MGM hotels are located in the four corners of the United States: in Massachusetts, New Jersey or Michigan.

This historic long-term agreement brings together two of the most trusted and iconic brands in hospitality and entertainment. We’ve seen strong demand from Marriott International guests for our existing relationship with the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and this new agreement will allow us to further optimize our overall profitability. We’re delighted to extend this relationship and offer Marriott Bonvoy members greater access to our award-winning resorts – as well as exclusive events and entertainment,” said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts.

Anthony Capuano, CEO of Marriott International, said: “We are thrilled to make MGM Resorts’ incredible properties available on Marriott channels, allowing our members to enjoy Marriott Bonvoy benefits when staying at MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy resorts. We look forward to increasing our overall room distribution by 2.4%, while strengthening our presence on the Las Vegas Strip and in other attractive destinations across the United States.”

A collaboration for the benefit of customers

This exclusive collaboration will enable members of both hotel groups to enjoy a range of benefits. For example, they will be able to redeem points between MGM Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy. They will also be able to enjoy unparalleled dining, entertainment and sports experiences.

Marriott International has also signed a loyalty marketing agreement with BetMGM (MGM Resorts International’s online gaming and sports betting joint venture).

Through this partnership, Marriott and BetMGM will work closely together to offer Marriott Bonvoy members various benefits: earning points on specific BetMGM transactions, access to exclusive games, experiences and offers on the BetMGM platform.

We’ll have to wait a few more months before this hotel collaboration sees the light of day. Further details regarding the linking of loyalty accounts, new experiences and program benefits will be provided to members in the coming months.
