If the Greek gods made Olympus their paradise, tourists will soon be able to find theirs on the southwest coast of the Peloponnese. This summer, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open its first hotel in Greece in the idyllic region of Messinia, at Costa Navarino. The program: incomparable surroundings, services and very high-quality activities to be experienced in harmony with exceptional Mediterranean nature.
Like the Hellenic temples, always placed in the best location, the future Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, will be nestled in a choice setting within a hilly seaside landscape, “overlooking one of the most preserved natural areas of the Mediterranean basin”. Contemplative guests will enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside or the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea and its sunsets.
With their private pools and spacious terraces, the 99 bright suites and semi-buried villas will combine unobtrusive luxury with traditional Messinian style.
Eternal and enduring Greece
Undoubtedly, we will be good in Greece: interior design inspired by 19th-century Hellenic architecture and nearby historical sites, carved wooden motifs and elements, textiles, and carpets echoing traditional Greek clothing. Respect for heritage that does not prevent the integration of advanced technologies…
The chosen color scheme will highlight the exceptional nature – terracotta tones with a few touches of color – and the work done on the local vegetation. As shown by planting more than 4,000 olive trees on the property and its surroundings, in addition to 500,000 endemic shrubs!
You can admire a beautiful Mediterranean ecosystem from your suite or villa through panoramic window.
The entire project will comply with the strict sustainable design criteria required by the Costa Navarino region and dear to the responsible approach of the Mandarin Oriental group. A small example: as in all the hotels of the group, we will look in vain for single-use plastic!
Delights of the palate and well-being
In addition to an exceptional environment, the five restaurants and bars of the new hotel offer a unique range of creative cuisine that combines the codes of authentic Greek cuisine with flavors from around the world. The team is supervised by French chef Bertrand Valegeas and is committed to selecting exceptional regional products from local producers.
On the wellness side, guests can rely on the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, which will offer treatments inspired by the rich Greek flora and traditional oriental rituals. A 25-meter pool open to the outside will allow you to prolong these intense moments while admiring the magical setting of the bay.
On a more active note, guests can take advantage of the customized fitness services, including yoga workshops, nutritional counseling, tennis lessons, and other programs related to the Intelligent Movement concept developed by Mandarin Oriental.
Sport in the spotlight
In the land of the Olympic Games, sports should also be honored… Water is obviously central, with a range of aquatic activities, from paddle boarding to water skiing, offered at the beach club. This one is also equipped with a large swimming pool and relaxation areas, a few steps from the beach.
The location is also ideal for golf enthusiasts: they can choose between the 18-hole course located near the hotel and one of the other three courses in Costa Navarino. This is accompanied by a Golf Club with elegant facilities and a breathtaking coast view.
And for those who might still be afraid of getting bored, the hotel offers a wide range of other activities: tennis courts, bike rides, hiking, and a leisure center. Finally, the Navarino Agora, a lively open-air market, features a variety of shops, artisanal street food outlets, and an outdoor cinema. A rich program of events combining culture and tradition will complete your ideal vacation.
With this new property, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, a member of the Jardine Matheson Group, further expands its portfolio of 36 of the world’s most luxurious hotels and seven residences in 24 countries and territories.
