Usually on sale from September, the 2019 Château d’Yquem vintage will be released in March 2022.

Château d’Yquem is an extraordinary place, nestled in the hills of the Sauternes Appellation. At the heart of the 113 hectares of vineyards, the area of influence of the Sauternes microclimate makes the wine’s aromas very specific. Indeed, all the conditions are there to ripen an exceptional grape. The Château carefully guards its secret of selective harvesting, orchestrated with dedication by experienced pickers, who have inherited their ancestral know-how from the generations that preceded them.

Thanks to this precision in grape selection, the winemaking process in the cellar requires very few inputs and the ageing in the barrels is longer and adapts to the rhythm of the wine.

For a hundred years, this unique Premier Cru Classé Supérieur has stood out from other Bordeaux wines by its exemplary consistency, under the sharp eye of Pierre Lurton.

After managing Château Clos Fourtet, 1er Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion, Pierre Lurton became General Manager of Cheval Blanc, 1er Grand Cru Classé A de Saint-Emilion. In 2004 he was appointed by Bernard Arnault and the LVMH group as President of Château d’Yquem, a Sauternes 1er Cru Supérieur. Since then, he has been responsible for both Cheval Blanc and Yquem, as well as for Cheval des Andes, an Argentinean vineyard resulting from an alliance between Bodega Chandon of the LVMH Group and Cheval Blanc.

The 2019 vintage will be available from 22 March 2022.
