Tomorrow, June 21, the streets of Paris will come alive with intoxicating melodies and upbeat rhythms to celebrate the Fête de la Musique. This annual event, enjoyed by thousands of people across the country, offers a unique opportunity to share musical passion, discover new talent and vibrate to the sounds of a multitude of musical genres.
Born in 1982 on the initiative of the then French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, the Fête de la Musique has become an unmissable tradition, marking the summer solstice with a musical explosion. Paris, as the cradle of culture and art, offers an exceptional range of musical experiences on this special evening. From emerging artists to established legends, from intimate concerts to open-air performances, the City of Light is transformed into a gigantic stage where all musical genres coexist harmoniously.
Midsommar and concerts at the Swedish Institute
The Swedish Institute has decided to pay tribute to its rich cultural heritage during the Fête de la Musique by celebrating Midsommar, a Swedish summer tradition. During this emblematic festival, participants adorn themselves with flower crowns, and sing and dance to folk tunes around a flower-pole. The festivities start at 5.30pm, in the garden of the Swedish Institute.
To liven up the evening, the Institute has lined up a varied musical program. Pop-folk artist Eskelina will open the ball, followed by minimalist indie rock duo 7ebra, made up of twins Inez and Ella. Finally, to round off the festivities in style, the talented EHLA will enchant the audience with her sensitive, catchy pop. To top it all off, participants will also have the opportunity to sample sweet and savoury Swedish treats, prepared with care by café FIKA and boutique Affären.
