The free exhibition The Sound Maker will take place in March 2022 at the Hotel d’Ecquevilly and will feature the famous Swiss striking watches from manufacture Jaeger – LeCoultre.
After a great success in China in November 2020, the exhibition continued its international tour in South Korea, then in other cities around the world, finally stopping in Paris.
As a reminder, the rings of these watches are inspired by the sounds of nature in the Vallée de Joux and it will be at the Hôtel du Grand veneur that they will be honoured. It will therefore be an opportunity to discover how the Swiss manufacture has managed to marry nature, craftsmanship and luxury.
The most beautiful pieces in the Jaeger-LeCoultre collections will honour us with their presence, whether contemporary or historical, they are of a unique rarity. Documents and other objects never before presented to the public as well as the rare trades involved in the creation of these luxury items will be presented.
Various areas will make up the exhibition: history, inventions, patents, secrets kept for more than 180 years by the Swiss watchmaker… Each section will reveal rare and striking pieces, omnipresent in the history of the Manufacture. For example, the Triple complication pocket watch will be on display; dating from 1910, when Jaeger-LeCoultre was the only company to master the art of the triple complication, capable of associating a chronograph with a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater. It was this timepiece that earned the company the nickname “Watchmaker of Watchmakers”.
At the request of the manufactory, the Swiss artist Zimoun created an installation, inspired by the sounds of the Vallée de Joux, for this exhibition. A mysterious hypnotic work made up of dozens of rotating discs, which produce unique sound and visual effects, will thus be unveiled.
