Beauty group Estée Lauder recently signed a global agreement with plastics specialist Eastman, relying on the latter’s molecular recycling technology to achieve its sustainable packaging goals.
Thanks to this agreement, the leading cosmetics group will be able to integrate into its portfolio packaging solutions made possible by Eastman’s molecular recycling technology. The US chemical company’s Renew range of resins includes up to 100% recycled material.
Its sustainable resins or recycled copolyesters, called Cristal Renew and Tritan Renew, are made from up to 100% ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) certified* recycled content. They are chemically indistinguishable from old resins. They offer the same quality and processability as virgin polymers with the clarity, gloss, colour compatibility and durability that cosmetic packaging demands, while providing premium recycled content.
For the raw materials supplier, this is the first agreement with such a prestigious beauty company focused on sustainability.

This partnership is part of the company’s commitment that by 2025, 75-100% of its packaging will be recyclable, reusable, recycled or recoverable.
The second target for the same year is to increase the proportion of collected materials in its packaging to 50%.
