Lucid Air has been named World Luxury Car of the Year 2023 at the prestigious World Car Awards 2023. This electric model with exceptional range combines luxury and advanced technology.
An electric model that’s going to be the talk of the town! Lucid Group announced today that the Lucid Air has been named the 2023 World Luxury Car of the Year at the prestigious World Car Awards.
The World Car Awards is an awards ceremony at the New York International Auto Show. It is judged by a panel of 100 leading international automotive journalists. They select the winners by secret ballot from 32 countries based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle.
In the Global Luxury Car category, Lucid Air was chosen from an initial selection of 16 vehicles from around the world, followed by a shortlist of three finalists revealed on March 7.
“We are honored to receive this World Car award, which reinforces my belief that the Lucid Air is the best car available in the world today”, said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group. “I am extremely proud of the entire Lucid team for this award, and I look forward to the future advancements we have planned.”
Luxury and performance
The Lucid Air, the company’s first car, is a state-of-the-art luxury sedan produced at Lucid’s Casa Grande, Arizona, plant and will go on sale in 2021. It has an official EPA-estimated range (Environmental Protection Agency, an agency in the U.S. that measures the range of an electric vehicle) of 5,000 miles and 1,050 horsepower.
“Lucid’s renowned in-house powertrain technology gives the Lucid Air a revolutionary electric range of more than 500 miles, demonstrating what is possible for a technology company that merges advanced software and hardware”, the CEO added.
Advanced Technology
In addition to receiving the Global Luxury Car of the Year award, the Lucid Air received the Newsweek Disruptor Award for Powertrain 2023 in New York this week, in recognition of its groundbreaking electric vehicle technology. The model was also named to US News & World Report’s “2023 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars” list in the “Best Luxury Electric Car” category.
Lucid Air has set a new industry benchmark for range with two versions of the electric vehicle, the first to achieve an EPA-estimated range of more than 500 miles. The company has set these new standards through its holistic approach to range and power. As an outsized service, it offers cars with supercar-like performance, ultra-fast charging, luxurious and spacious interiors, and top-notch aerodynamics.
