Lanvin unveils a capsule in collaboration with Gallery Dept

French fashion house Lanvin has announced the launch of a capsule collection in collaboration with Gallery Dept., the label founded by artist Josué Thomas.

Lanvin artistic director Bruno Sialelli unveiled a capsule collection for men for the spring-summer 2021 season. The capsule is made in collaboration with Los Angeles-based artist Josué Thomas, who carries the label Gallery Dept.

A capsule collection that combines creativity, streetwear culture, and a passion for retro fashion,” the brand announces under the capsule’s presentation video. In this video, the process of creating this collection is revealed, and we see the artist Josué Thomas, paint bombs in hand, bringing a streetwear touch to the iconic pieces of the Lanvin house, created in 1989.

It’s brilliant to see Lanvin’s legacy and our core collection evolve with creative partnerships. We love to continue to challenge ourselves to see Lanvin in new forms,” said Bruno Sialelli.

Gallery Dept is a popular Los Angeles-based label that specializes in reviving vintage luxury clothing. The brand offers unisex collections that combine art and streetwear. This collaboration allows Gallery Dept. to make a place for itself in the luxury world by appropriating Lanvin‘s pieces with flair.

The design process for the Lanvin collaboration was relatively similar to how we design at Gallery Department,” confides Josué Thomas. “I wanted each garment to exude a feeling that people could connect with forever.

Among the pieces featured in the capsule are Lanvin‘s signature pieces, such as the striped shirt or the wide-seam denim, reworked in accordance with Gallery Dept‘s signature style. Printed t-shirts and sweatshirts bearing the French house‘s name are enriched with dripping paint splatters, and on sale for €300 and €570 respectively.

The capsule collection by Lanvin and Gallery Dept. is available in stores and online now.
