Born 60 years ago, Lamborghini is no longer celebrating its Spring…But the car brand is not hiding its age for all that and is planning a roaring calendar to celebrate its birthday in 2023.
On May 6, 1963, the industrialist Ferruccio Lamborghini, who made his fortune after the war selling farm tractors, shifted into high gear by launching his car brand in Sant’Agata Bolognese. His ambition was to become a household name in the rather small world of sports brands.
Six decades later, his brand intends to remain one of the most prestigious and desirable in its category. And to keep the flame alive in 2023, a whole series of important events are planned for its sixtieth anniversary.
Winter 2023: the Lamborghini Museum gets underway
The green light for Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary was given on January 19 with the inauguration of the Sant’Agata Bolognese Museum, following its renovation. An exhibition, called The Future Began In 1963, will showcase the brand’s 19 iconic Lamborghinis throughout 2023, divided into three themes (Heritage, Contemporary and Few-Off).
On February 23, the car brand will travel to Japan, a major market for the company, with the Lamborghini Day Japan – 60th anniversary organized on the Suzuka circuit. Hundreds of enthusiasts and collectors are expected to attend.
Spring 2023: Silverstone and Piazza Maggiore
On April 29, during the Lamborghini Day UK, organized as its name suggests in the United Kingdom, the Silverstone circuit will welcome more than 300 owners of supercars and hypercars of the Italian brand.
On May 28, the spotlight shines again in Italy, with the Concorso In Piazza.60th Anniversary Tour in Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore. Hundreds of Lamborghinis and their collectors from all over the world will be paraded in a concours d’élégance open to the public. In Italy, fashion is almost always part of the game.
Summer 2023: a tour of the United States and China
Lamborghini obviously couldn’t ignore its number one market, the United States. There, the brand will host the 60th Anniversary Giro, a replica of the Italian Giro, the famous Italian cycling tour.
In September, its second most important market, mainland China, will host the Giro China event for its ninth edition. More than 100 Lamborghini owners and enthusiasts will attend the gala dinner. At the same time, the 60th anniversary Polo Storico Tour will be held in Italy, reserved for classic cars of the brand. The tour is organized by the Polo Storico d’Automobili Lamborghini, the division in charge of the preservation and restoration of these models.
Autumn 2023: a grand finale
Lamborghini intends to conclude 2023 with a grand finale. In October, the first ever Lamborghini Festival will be launched at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome. The brand will communicate later on this new important event open to all enthusiasts.
Last, not the least, the festivities will end on the same circuit of Vallelunga, with the Grand Finale of the Super Trofeo Lamborghini, the one-design championship dedicated to the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. The opportunity to see vehicles from three continents compete. A nice tribute to the sixty-year-old car, still desired all over the world…
