The company, renowned for its macaroons, intends to continue its development throughout the world.

Last March, 80% of Ladurée was bought by Stephane Courbit through Lov Group, a holding company created in 2008 and already owner of Banijay, Maison Fouquet and Betclic. In 2020, the pandemic had hit Ladurée hard and its turnover had been more than halved. The Holder group, which owned the company, opened its capital.  Hence the arrival of the Lov Group…

After the takeover, Mélanie Carron became the new managing director, replacing David Holder, the son of the founder of the Holder group. She spent several years at Deloitte Consulting before joining the Accor group for three years. In the kitchen, Julien Alvarez has been appointed International Head of Pastry Creation. The 2011 World Pastry Champion’s CV includes prestigious venues such as the Peninsula Paris, the Café Pouchkine and the Bristol.

The new management team is taking over the reins of a House that has already changed under the leadership of its previous owner. Now defining itself as a “luxury French pastry house”, the company, which was born on rue Royale in Paris in 1862, has broadened its scope. And while the macaroon remains the star, the brand is innovating and testing new products, particularly savoury, but also lifestyle items such as cosmetics, candles and other goodies. The brand has also become very popular on social networks, particularly on Instagram.

The brand now wants to capitalise on this new image to accelerate its international development, particularly through franchising. China and the United States are among the priorities. The brand recently opened its first tea room in Shanghai.

France has not been left out of the equation, however, as shown by the recent opening of a shop in Saint Tropez. With 38 sales outlets in France and a hundred or so in 22 countries, Ladurée has great ambitions.
