Ginevra Elkann has resigned from her position as a director on the Kering Board of Directors with effect from 27 April 2021, yesterday. “Due to the evolution of her functions for Exor, of which she is also a director, and in order to avoid any potential conflict of interest, Ginevra Elkann has resigned as a director of the Board of Directors,” the luxury group said in a statement.
Ginevra Elkann, who was appointed as an independent director of Kering in May 2018, is stepping down from her position as a member of the Kering Board of Directors two and a half years before the end of her term of office, which was due to expire on 31 December 2023.
In the press release, François-Henri Pinault, on behalf of the Board of Directors, warmly thanks Ginevra Elkann for her contribution to the work of the Board, particularly in the context of the past year.
The Nominations and Governance Committee (which oversees Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, Dodo, Qeelin, Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux and Kering Eyewear) will consider her replacement in the coming weeks.
Ginevra Elkann was born in London and studied between the capitals of the UK and France, gaining degrees from the University of Paris and the London Film School. Today, she is 41 years old, has three children and is President of Asmara Films and Good Films, a film production and distribution company.
As a reminder, she is also President of the Pinacoteca Giovanni & Marella Agnelli in Turin, a member of the European Advisory Board of Christie’s and of the American Academy of Rome, and, as mentioned above, she sits on the board of Exor, the Agnelli family holding company of which her brother John is Chairman and CEO.
