For several months now, the Karl Lagerfeld brand has been working on an exclusive capsule collection with the young designer of Nigerian origin Kenneth Ize, whose pieces will be available for sale from April 2021 in a selection of Karl Lagerfeld boutiques and on Karl.com.

While the death of the great couturier in February 2019 has not changed the brand’s DNA, it surprises us as usual with an innovative collection.

As part of this collaboration, the young fashionable designer, protégé of Anna Wintour and adored by Naomi Campbell, is being honoured. Finalist for the LVMH Award in 2019, Kenneth Ize brings a fresh and innovative look to fashion. It is this freshness that seduced the brand’s CEO Karl Lagerfeld Pier Paolo Righi.

Kenneth Ize shares Karl Lagerfeld’s vision of innovation, craftsmanship, quality and authenticity. We are excited and very much looking forward to launching this capsule collaboration together“.

The designer is inspired by traditional West African fabrics, which he reworks in a spirit of contemporary luxury. In particular, he collaborates with local weavers and designers in Nigeria to preserve the heritage of this age-old craft. His traditional and innovative African aesthetic combined with Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic chic is full of promise for the fashion world.

The young man has not failed to express his enthusiasm on Instagram for the beautiful project ahead.

You can’t imagine what this means to me. It’s such an honor to be the first black designer to collaborate with this label. Karl has always been a great inspiration to me.”
