One year after his death, Karl Lagerfeld is at the heart of an exhibition in the city of Berlin, which allows both to remember the great designer and to discover him in a new light.
The city of Berlin honors the memory of Karl Lagerfeld with a tribute exhibition that started today, the day after the first anniversary of the death of the great designer. “Karl Lagerfeld in Berlin” is to be discovered free of charge until May 20 at the Hotel de Rome, a place dear to the former artistic director of Chanel both for its particular decor and for its numerous art exhibitions.
This is not a retrospective devoted to the great designer of German origin who died on February 19, 2019, but an opportunity to discover a new facet, to appreciate it in a new light … or rather under another night.
20 portraits of Karl Lagerfeld captured in the streets of Berlin at night by photographer Daniel Biskup will be featured in this exhibition.
From a shoot made in 2002, while the two friends were strolling the streets of the German capital, the photos perfectly highlight the famous designer in lively and original settings. The exhibition notably shows a Karl Lagerfeld posing in the heart of the Rosenthaler Platz metro station, or in metamorphosed car parks and telephone boxes.
