Marriott continues its expansion into major global cities with an opening this month in Istanbul.

By 2025, the Marriott hotel group has announced plans for several major cities, including Tokyo, with a hotel featuring 200 rooms and a MICE space of nearly 1,000 m2.

But the group has already conquered two new major metropolises with almost simultaneous openings in Istanbul and Sao Paulo. The latter is the result of the takeover of the former Four Seasons, which opened in 2018 and has been closed since late 2020. Located along Avenida Nações Unidas, the hotel offers a new luxury drop-off point for business travelers in the Brazilian metropolis. The landscaping is designed by architect Sérgio Santana, with an extensive spa and state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pool, gourmet Italian restaurant and cocktail bar.

In Istanbul, the JW Marriott Hotel Istanbul Marmara Sea plays on this idea of an urban and design resort that is as attractive to leisure as to business guests. It is located on the edge of the Marmara Sea, in the Atakoy district and offers a wellness program with a La Vallée spa, indoor and outdoor infinity pools and contemporary hammams.

On the dining side, the hotel offers an eclectic menu of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian and fusion dishes, all served on the outdoor terrace, in the spa restaurant or in the various bars. Starting in June, a Japanese table led by Michelin-starred chef Akira Back will also be on the menu.

The resort offers 204 rooms and suites, all of which are spacious and most of which have balconies overlooking the Marmara Sea and Istanbul. The hotel’s suites add to this with large contemporary living rooms and dedicated kitchen areas, while the presidential suite also has a private gym and indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis.
