JW Anderson, Études, Hed Mayner,… : Men’s Fashion Week continues in Paris

The digital fashion shows continue this week in the fashion capital. After New York, Milan, and London, the men’s Fashion Week arrives on the Parisian screens. JW Anderson, Studies, Hed Mayner, Angus Chiang…back on the most outstanding shows of the PFW.

During Paris Men’s Fashion Week, designer Jonathan Anderson, founder of JW Anderson and artistic director of the Spanish luxury house LOEWE, presented the men’s fall-winter 2021-2022 and women’s pre-fall 2021 collections of the JW Anderson label. And to do so, the designer called upon the famous German photographer Juergen Teller.

Jonathan Anderson describes the guideline of his two new collections in these words: “experimentation, simplicity, reduction, craftsmanship“. After last season’s postcards, these collections are presented in poster format, representing models posing in places populated by exotic vegetation.

On the posters are annotations by the designer, such as “man covered with logos“, “empty or full handbag?”, or “what are you looking at?” In the video presentation of these collections for this digital fashion week, released this afternoon, the new pieces of the designer are scrolling on the mood boards in the background.

The young Parisian company Études paid homage to the nineties in a video shot in the Châtelet-Les Halles metro station. A model starts a dance in the underground corridors of the Parisian underpass, and we then follow a woman, on the surface, practicing a demonstration of Tecktonik, a popular dance of the 2000s.

The entire autumn-winter 2021 collection of the house Études resonates with this nostalgia. For this collection, Études collaborated with the animated television series Beavis and Butt-Head, which has been broadcast on MTV since 1993 and whose main characters are represented on several pieces of the collection.

The Israeli designer Hed Mayner also marked the men’s fashion week in Paris, presenting his collection through a video fashion show in a disused space. “This season is breaking down the tension between the need for isolation and the desire to be seen,” the designer explains in his statement.

True to the identity of his label, Hed Mayner offers a warm and casual-chic wardrobe this season. Its collection with its pure colors and natural materials is an ode to simplicity while remaining fully in line with the times we are going through.

These extraordinary fashion weeks push designers to constantly reinvent themselves and to innovate in order to offer a memorable fashion week despite the conditions in which it takes place. Angus Chiang understood these challenges very well and decided to stand out by presenting his collection not as a fashion show, but as an Oscar-style awards ceremony.

In this video presentation, the long and majestic red carpet is unveiled to welcome the new pieces by Taiwanese designer Angus Chiang. An animator comments on the different creations that parade on the carpet, before this autumn-winter collection takes on the appearance of a movie trailer.

This Paris Men’s Fashion Week is about to conclude this 100% digital season, which allowed the designers to present their collection in an original and personal way, to make an impression in the same way as the physical catwalks, more traditional and immersive.
