The Kering Group’s Italian subsidiary is demonstrating its commitment to expertise by opening a new workshop dedicated to the manufacture of its shoes. It is located in the same Veneto region as its previous workshop dedicated to bags.
After bags, shoes. Bottega Veneta, owned by the Kering Group, continues to nurture its artisanal excellence.
The Italian luxury House has just announced the opening of a new workshop, dedicated to shoes, located in Vigonza, between Padua and Venice, on the Riviera del Brenta.
A logical choice
A choice that is by no means accidental. In the same Veneto region, Bottega Veneta had already opened a workshop in Montebello Vicentino in 2011, dedicated to leather goods, its original specialty.
And to manufacture its shoes, Bottega Veneta chose to locate in an industrial district specialized in the design and production of these accessories.
“Since its creation, Bottega Veneta has been deeply rooted in the unique culture, community and traditions of the Veneto region,” emphasized Leo Rongone, Bottega Veneta’s CEO. “The craftsmanship that defines the House can only come from this territory, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place than Vigonza, in the footwear district of the Riviera del Brenta, to house our workshop.”
From now on, all Bottega Veneta shoes will take shape on this site, from design to production, including research and development, quality control and prototyping…
An echo of the Intrecciato
Architecturally, the building features a facade of dark metal panels, echoing the Intrecciato craftsmanship of the famous woven leather motif that has become the Maison’s signature.
Concerned with the quality of the conditions under which its products are made and the lives of its workforce, Bottega Veneta explains that it designed the site “to inspire creative collaboration, collaboration and well-being in all professional departments“. Inside, the open-plan layout offers 5,450 sq. m. of space, spread over three floors, including “offices, meeting and breakout rooms, a canteen and a vast terrace“.
Leed certification
Like its predecessor, the Montebello Vicentino workshop, the Vigonza site will also be certified LEED, the label of excellence for sustainable buildings. This means implementing innovative solutions to reduce overall water and energy consumption…
Founded in 1966 and based in Milan, Italy, Bottega Veneta became a subsidiary of Gucci Group in 2008, itself renamed Kering in 2013.
In addition to bags and shoes, it has diversified into ready-to-wear, jewelry and fragrances.
