Every year, Glassdoor compiles a ranking of the best companies to work for. This year, Hermès, L’Oréal and Chanel are among the top 25.
Glassdoor is a website where employees (current and former) of companies anonymously rate their work environment. The site compiles the rankings by looking at companies that have received at least 20 ratings on nine criteria as well as factors such as work-life balance, compensation and benefits.
Biomerieux, which launched three different diagnostic tests for Covid-19 during the pandemic, as well as a cloud-based software application to help identify new variants, tops the ranking. Management consulting firm Bain & Company, another newcomer to this year’s list, was named the third best employer in France.
France is not to be outdone in the luxury sector, with three brands in the top 25. First, there is Hermès, in 7th position. The luxury leather goods manufacturer was number 1 in 2019 and number 2 in 2020, until dropping to 15th place last year. In 2022, the latter banked on its talents by training new craftsmen, an effort that was visibly noticed. Next in line is the l’Oreal group at 19th place. “I think there’s a very healthy and positive environment. I really feel like L’Oreal is in tune with the social reality of today. My team members are all very welcoming and friendly,” explains Edgar, who is doing a User Experience IT tools research and innovation internship at L’Oréal on the brand’s corporate website, Beauty Tomorrow. Finally, we find Chanel, which ranks 24th in the ranking, with a score of 3.6 out of 5 in “Diversity and Inclusion” out of 226 reviews on Glassdoor.
“In general, we have seen in this particular year companies that have been able to reinvent themselves to prioritize the health (physical and mental), safety and well-being of their employees,” says Christian Sutherland-Wong, CEO of Glassdoor.
