Gucci: Sabato de Sarno enlists Daria Werbowy for his first campaign

Daria Werbowy, iconic model of the 2000s, returns to the world of fashion. She becomes the face of the new Gucci Comeback Fashion campaign, signed by the brand’s new artistic director, Sabato de Sarno.

It’s a big comeback for Polish-Canadian model Daria Werbowy. Muse of Phoebe Philo and iconic model of the 2000s, she had left the media scene for seven years to devote herself to personal projects. Today, she returns fresher than ever, and is (literally) naked, for the new Gucci campaign.

Gucci is renewed

Alessandro Michele, a true fashion prodigy and former creative director of Gucci, gave way to the Italian designer Sabato de Sarno last November. Since his appointment, the world of fashion, professionals and enthusiasts alike, have been waiting for his first collection as the messiah. Before unveiling his very first fashion show for the brand next September in the Italian fashion capital, he unveils some images of the new Gucci Comeback Fashion campaign, via social networks.

Sabato de Sarno chose the City of Angels as the idyllic setting for the new Gucci campaign. It was shot by fashion photographer David Sims by the pool at Chateau Marmont.

As a result, crudely authentic shots where we see Daria Werbowy, natural and sensual, with a double G flocked bikini bottom as a simple pageant and (very) large gold earrings.

This first photo, entitled High Jewelry (should we imagine a complete newline of high jewelry?) reveals only few details of the stylistic vision of Sabato de Sarno.

He thus signs his first steps as artistic creator of Gucci, as well as the big return of the super model Daria Werbowy. A double match that pleases fashion!

Daria Werbowy: the muse that entertains fashion

A true star of the catwalks in the 2000s, Daria Werbowy is also known for having been the muse of Phoebe Philo, when she was at the head of creation at Céline. Covers of magazines, catwalks, muse and fashion show record, it is everywhere, and everyone snatches it.

While her career is at its peak, she decides to gradually withdraw from the middle. In 2013, she became increasingly discreet, accepting only certain collaborations that were close to her heart and in 2016, she put her career on hold.

It is with the famous Italian brand Gucci that she decides to make her comeback after several years of absence, with the first campaign of Sabato de Sarno. A return not so surprising and that says a lot, since between them, it is a history of friendship that lasts for more than 20 years.

In 2003, Sabato de Sarno worked as an assistant at Prada. It was there that he met Daria Werbowy, then the face of the brand for the autumn-winter campaign.

Daria, we started together in this job in 2003, and here you are with me at the beginning of this new adventure” commented the designer on his Instagram account.

This duo of always risks well to make capsize the hearts of fashion in the coming months.
