Gucci heirs seek legal action against “House Of Gucci” film

Released in cinemas on 24 November, “House Of Gucci” is not a hit with everyone, especially the heirs of the Gucci dynasty. The Gucci family has threatened to take legal action against Ridley Scott’s film, “House Of Gucci”.

“House Of Gucci” delves into the terrifying story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver) by a hitman, orchestrated by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (played by Lady Gaga), in 1990s Italy.

The heirs took issue with Ridley Scott’s film, saying in a statement that “the film conveys a narrative that is anything but accurate”.

In particular, the Gucci family took exception to the portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani “as a victim trying to survive in a male chauvinist corporate culture”. They are also outraged that their ancestor Aldo Gucci and his relatives are presented as “thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them”.

Today, the heirs of Aldo Gucci, founder of the Gucci brand, no longer have any connection with the House, as it is part of the luxury group, Kering. The family also stated that they “reserve the right to take all necessary measures to protect his name, his image and his dignity and that of his relatives”, in a letter published by the Italian news agency ANSA.
