Also, its location in the famous Itaewon district is not surprising. Known as one of the capital’s liveliest and most eclectic neighbourhoods, it is also where cosmopolitan and traditional Korean cuisine is in the spotlight. Itaewon also has a special bond with inclusivity, so the spirit of this neighbourhood ties in perfectly with the spirit that Alessandro Michele, the brand’s creative director, gives to the Italian label, valuing self-expression and uniqueness.

“GAOK” meaning “traditional house” in Korean, the spirit of the shop is to be welcoming, its space dedicated to relaxation, to allow its customers a friendly shopping experience, while enjoying the hospitality that the Korean ‘house’ offers. The shop’s interior reflects both Alessandro Michele’s vision and the fast-paced, innovative spirit of Itaewon.

In collaboration with the Korean artist Seungmo Park, he designed the façade of the new shop, inspired by an imaginary forest. Through the application of a grid, the famous artist wanted to play on the contrast between light and darkness, symbolically reflecting the border between reality and the virtual. Park also sought to reflect on current environmental issues, to express the existence and non-existence of nature, all from a forward-looking perspective of what can be lost and what can remain.

With a surface area of approximately 1,015 m², the shop is spread over four floors, displaying the entire collection of the house. From women’s and men’s ready-to-wear to handbags, shoes, jewellery and home decoration, nothing has been left out. This new shop even presents for the first time its collection of high-end tableware.

In detail, the first floor consists of a transparent tube display, stimulating the curiosity of customers with exclusive colourful products from the house. The second floor is reserved for the men’s collections, with a private area decorated in the form of a bar, which also displays exclusive products and the house’s historic couture. The third floor features high-end jewellery, while the fourth floor is reserved for women’s and gender-neutral products, accompanied by the presentation of the unique Herberium patterned dinnerware collection.
