With 180 years of existence, ESMOD is one of the oldest fashion schools in the world. The school’s anniversary will be celebrated in November 2021 in Paris, in the presence of the entire international network, both remotely and in person. On this occasion, the school is unveiling a new strategy that will be implemented by the new director Véronique Beaumont Tordjmann, who will take over the school this month.

“ESMOD can be proud to have passed through the ages while preserving its authenticity, which lies in the perfect balance between tradition and innovation,” says the school in a statement.

The grand jury of the Barbie competition, on which the students have been actively working since November 2020 and whose creations will be judged by a prestigious fashion jury next March, will inaugurate the event at the ceremony to be held next November.

On this occasion, the school will honour its rich heritage thanks to an important archive retracing its history, but also with a beautiful collection of dresses, costumes and accessories from the 18th to the 21st century. The creations of former students will also be on display.

The school will also present its major international fashion show, which each year brings together the creations of graduates from all the schools in the network.

Also, the general management welcomes Véronique Beaumont at the beginning of March as General Manager of the ESMOD group. This appointment is part of the continuity of the implementation of new development axes which aim to deepen the evolutions initiated in the last few years in the programmes as well as in the international influence of the group.

For the year 2021, the school intends to offer training courses that are increasingly in line with the realities of the market, whether to its students or to professionals, while recalling the roots of the school, which has become an international reference that is always looking to the future.

Hybridization of Fashion Design and Fashion Business courses

The school’s two main areas of training are Fashion Design and Fashion Business, which allow it to train students for a wide range of professions and provide them with a variety of outlets.

The school, in order to ensure that its students have an industrial, creative, innovative and economic vision of a project, has hybridized its original training by adding several courses and joint projects between the students of the two sections.

This hybridization will allow students to acquire more versatile profiles that are better adapted to the rapid evolution of the various fashion sectors.

Increasing focus on digital and e-learning

As with all schools, the health crisis has revolutionised learning methods and ESMOD has adapted very effectively to this period. Even if e-learning was initially only a solution to allow for educational continuity, it has become a solution that accurately reflects the real market demand.

Indeed, e-learning makes training more accessible and more instantaneous. ESMOD intends to actively develop this digital access in its training offer, while ensuring a balance between classroom and distance learning.

The students will therefore use all types of digital tools. Tools for which they have also received training: Modaris, Clo 3D….

The development of a social and environmental responsibility charter

The school is actively working on the development of a charter providing a certain number of rules and good practices within the school as well as in the French and international network. It concerns students but also employees and is not limited to ecology. Indeed, it also takes into account the area of living together with the common values of respect, tolerance and inclusiveness.

Programmes in this area have already been the subject of various projects, and ESMOD intends to continue its efforts by developing partnerships with companies as well as setting up an “ecotheque”.

Strengthened communication and international development

Since the beginning of the 20th century ESMOD has been transmitting its knowledge and practices internationally. Its network consists of 19 schools in 13 countries on the different continents of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. A network that allows it to have many potential employers for its future graduates.

This year the school has a new website that is “clearer, more ergonomic and more detailed, offering a complete vision of the ESMOD universe and its missions, commitments and schools around the world. A powerful communication tool to make ESMOD’s influence known and recognised in France and internationally.”
