The 2021 French Open continues into its second week, and the field of possible winners is narrowing. Rafael Nadal remains one of the favourites, but for now, we’ll focus on his watch!
All players have their favourite watch brands: Rolex for Roger Federer, Audemars Piguet for Stanislas Wawrinka or Longines for Agassi; but it is Rafael Nadal’s Richard Mille watch that we are going to discuss.
For once, Nadal is back on clay with a Richard Mille watch. In 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017, the same Swiss watchmaker dressed the tennis player’s wrist. For example, the RM 27-03 model in 2017, estimated at a price of €650,000, was created exclusively for Rafael Nadal, unique and in the colours of Spain.
But this year, the watch designed by Richard Mille is somewhat different. Celebrating 10 years of partnership with the Majorcan champion, the RM 27-04 is a manually wound tourbillon watch with a movement weighing 3.4 grams and a total weight of almost 30 grams.
The strap is dyed a light blue, the inside of the dial has hints of orange, red, flashy blue and black.
Produced in only 50 pieces, you can expect to pay a significant sum to acquire it: even if its price has not been revealed by the watchmaking company, the Mag Montres website has estimated its cost at around €900,000!
