Patek Philippe authorizes for the first time the online sale of its watches

Given the current health crisis in the world, the prestigious luxury watch brand Patek Philippe allows its official dealers to sell its models online. A very first for the factory.

 

This period of health crisis is particularly difficult for the luxury industry. And among the businesses most affected by the coronavirus, we find watch retailers, which are almost all closed due to confinement.

 

The Geneva based watch company Patek Philippe has decided to act by temporarily easing its policies against digital sales.

 

This new decision aims to support retailers, most of whom have worked with Patek Philippe for more than a century, when stores are closed and customers are forced to stay at home.

 

“It is only for a temporary period to help authorized Patek Philippe retailers which are closed due to the current situation,” the brand said in a statement.

 

Indeed, you should know that the watchmaking company does not market its timepieces on internet, or even on its own website and that until now, its official dealers did not have the permission to sell Patek watches either online.

 

However, don’t bother rushing to the Tiffany website (which sells Patek in New York), the famous Nautilus and the very much sought Aquanaut are not available online.

 

For decades, the watches of the Swiss watchmaking house have been highly prized by collectors because it produces only around 62,000 pieces per year.

 

Founded in 1839 in Geneva, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world.
