For the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games – officially the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Omega has unveiled a limited edition of five speedmasters, inspired by the colors of the Olympic rings.
With the Tokyo Olympics in full swing, Biel-based watchmaker Omega is serving as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games for the 29th time since 1932.
In addition to three previously launched timepieces (Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition; Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition; and Seamaster Diver 300M Tokyo 2020), A Blog To Watch has announced the release of five Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches in the iconic colors of the Olympic rings.
As a reminder, the Olympic rings represent the five continents of the world and the six colors have been carefully chosen. These colors are found on all the flags of the world, so that each country can recognize at least one of its national colors.
Of these five Speedmasters, three are made of steel, two are two-tone, mixing steel and sedna gold (rose gold revisited by Omega) or 18-carat yellow gold.
With a diameter of 42 mm, they are equipped with the 1861 caliber and have the Tokyo 2020 Games logo engraved on the back. Also, 55 boxes containing the five Speedmasters will be available for purchase.
Each watch will be offered in 2020 pieces each, referring to the year of the Japanese Games.
“Omega’s limited editions always create a buzz. They are sold out before they even hit the market. They are there, waiting for consumers to receive them,” said Nick Hayek Jr, Swatch Group CEO, at the group’s results presentation conference. These timepieces have become even more collector since the postponement of the 2020 Olympics to the year 2021, because of the epidemic of Covid-19.
Count on spending the sum of 5250 euros for one of the five models of Omega watches. These watches will probably become Omega collectors soon!
