It’s now official : Natacha Ramsay-Levi has announced her departure from the French house.
After months of rumours, the designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi, who has been head of the artistic direction of the French house Chloé since 2017, has announced that she is stepping down. The designer, who succeeded Clare Waight-Keller, communicated the news on her Instagram account, this Thursday, December 3rd.
“Over the past four years, I have had the privilege, with the support of Chloé’s team, to express my creativity. I am proud of what we have accomplished together in a caring, consistent and authentic way. I would like to thank Chloé for this opportunity. I am also grateful to them for supporting my decision to leave,” she explains.
Her last spring-summer 2021 fashion show, last October, was widely acclaimed by critics and already gave some clues as to her departure. “During my last show, I brought up the idea of risk-taking. In this continuity, I allow myself to believe in change. During these last few months of health, social and economic crisis, I have been thinking a lot about the changes I would like to see in the fashion industry and how to better align future changes with my own creative, intellectual and emotional values. It is this reflection that makes me see my future differently and makes me want to seize new opportunities. »
An impressive resumé
Natacha Ramsay-Levi is one of those no longer in the fashion industry. In 2002, she joined the team of Nicolas Ghesquière, who succeeded the designer Josephus Thimister as head of the artistic direction of Balenciaga. She quickly became his right-hand man and then his protégé. In 2013, after eleven years with the luxury house, he left to join Louis Vuitton as artistic director of the women’s collections and took his ally with him. In April 2017, when Natacha Ramsay-Levi took off on her own, she succeeded Clare Waight Keller as artistic director of the ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories collections of the House of Chloé.
