Italian carmaker Lamborghini hopes to launch its fully electric model at the end of this decade.

According to analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, ten million electric vehicles will be on the road worldwide by the end of 2021, up from one million in 2015 : a fairly meteoric rise for the electric car sector.

Given the urgent need to react to current environmental problems, the automotive sector is witnessing this boom in electric cars by completely rethinking their models. Thus, car manufacturers are pushing their models towards electrification. However, the challenge for luxury carmakers remains to move their models towards battery power, while maintaining their performance.

Brand spokesman Stephan Winkelmann said Lamborghini’s first all-electric model would be a four-seat sports utility vehicle (SUV). In addition, he confirmed that Lamborghini will make its entire range hybrid.

Despite this announcement, Lamborghini is still behind one of its main competitors, Ferrari, which is ahead of it, having already launched three hybrid models.
